TEN DAY WISH.
"One cloud can obscure all of the sun."
The Rockin' Billy Goat was the last Ten Day Wish show.
Steve Tankersley (Tank) lost his fight to Covid-19 on Nov. 23rd, 2020.
Only 3 months before he was going to retire and play music full-time
We found out the day before that, that Ben Travis who used to perform with Tanya and I and Jim Harrison in Ten Day/Two Way had passed.
I have not felt this way since I lost my Mom.
I have looked at this page from time to time over the last 2 years...and I said there could be no Ten Day Wish without Tank.
The more I think about it...I think Tank would be pissed off that I said that.
I will tell you--Tanya and I have been talking to different musicians about re-forming TDW...and a small acoustic group of some kind.
No...it won't sound the same. It will be different. It should be-there are too many now doing what we used to do.
So, let's start fresh-shall we? And you know that I will not take out any act that I am NOT EXTRAORDINARILY happy with.
Can't give you an exact timeline yet. But things are being moved from the back burner to the front. Finally.
This is full-on starting over. Have a little faith...and we hope to see you in the not so distant future.
"All of us get lost in the darkness
Dreamers learn to steer by the stars,
All of us do time in the gutter
Dreamers turn to look at the cars..."
Ten Day Wish is a band that started playing gigs between 1991 & '92. Known until EXIT STAGE LEFT until New Year's Eve 1998--when we flipped our banner over at midnight.
Sandy White (that's me) and drummer Tom Faulkner had played together in a country band--Second Wind--in the late 80's. I met Tanya in '87 at one of those gigs in Great Bend. We married in '89 and I moved to Wichita to take over the production director/mid-day host gig at KICT-95 on January 2nd of '90. The job offer came so soon after our wedding, Tanya & I decided to stay away from live music; she had joined Tom & I singing with Second Wind.
Two years later, Tom asked us if we wanted to jam with him & a couple more players at his office. So once again, we were in a band made of musicians from different cities.
Today...Tom has left and re-joined; I can't play guitar anymore--but Kelley is now my fingers. I still sing and mix sound and all the tech stuff. Tanya continues to be the Patron Saint of Small Animals and the Grand Vocal Priestess of the High Plains...and stuff.
Steve Tankersley and Tom went to school together; Tank has been with us for over a decade.
But our newest member, Reggie Littleton-on bass-joins Tanya, Sandy, Tank, Tom, & Kelly for a brand-new, energized Ten Day Wish.
Big stuff is happening. You should watch.
See you at a show.
